RE
Our RE curriculum follows the Trafford Locally Agreed Syllabus which we adapt to meet the needs of our children. We aim to adopt an enquiry based approach beginning with the children’s own life experience before moving into learning about and from religion. We will explore a range of organised worldviews alongside personal worldviews - acknowledging the diversity within traditions, geographically and across time. Our teaching enables pupils to make sense of religion and worldviews, and reflect on their own ideas and ways of living so they can build their sense of identity and belonging. This helps them flourish within their communities and as citizens in a diverse society. We teach pupils to develop respect for others and challenge prejudice. We encourage the children to use their oracy skills during discussion based lessons. We use stories, text and poems to support our units of work and allow children to make connections with their learning or aspects of their own life. In all year groups, children visit a place of worship and this is included in our long-term planning. Throughout the school 3 key concepts (Believing, expressing, living) run through the RE curriculum with additional concepts being introduced throughout the year, discovering in foundation stage, exploring in KS1 and connecting in KS2. Our RE teaching addresses the following threads:
- To know about and understand a range of religious and non-religious worldviews
- To express ideas and insights about the nature, significance and impact of religious and non-religious wo
